January is Thyroid Awareness Month 🦋 And I want to share a personal part of my story—because it changed the course of my life.
I grew up living a healthy, active lifestyle. Movement, nutrition, and wellness were always part of my world, which naturally led me to pursue a career in fitness and health.
In 2011, during a routine doctor’s appointment, my physician noticed an enlargement on my neck and sent me for further testing. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s—an autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid, a small, butterfly shaped gland located in front of the neck and responsible for regulating metabolism, energy, hormones, and focus.
As a young, active, and health-conscious woman—I was blindsided. Suddenly navigating a chronic condition I never expected. But instead of stopping me, that moment became a wake-up call. My career in fitness and wellness wasn’t just aligned—it was confirmed.
More than that, it clarified my calling: to help influence others to stop sacrificing their health in the name of success. You cannot run at elite levels on an empty system. Prioritizing your health isn’t selfish—it’s self-care.
