3 Mindful Ways to Wind down on a Weeknight

After a long, busy day nothing sounds better than kicking back, and relaxing on the couch catching up on your shows and indulging in your favorite snacks.  Am I right?

However, some nights you're so tired and take the phone, laptop, snacks, and to your living room or bedroom and calling it a night.

No judgement, it's all good, but can affect your sleeping patterns, energy levels, and how you look and feel overtime.

Here are 3 mindful way to wind down on a weeknight so you can relax and wake up recharged for another busy day ahead.

1) Bag or Bowl It

Go ahead and enjoy your favorite snacks, whatever they may be.  However, place a portion or two of it in a bowl and savor versus taking the entire bag or package with you and overindulging.

2) Stretch it Out

If you’re catching up on your favorite shows, or downtime reading, do some light, active stretches during commercial breaks, or between chapters. Light stretches keep your muscles flexible, preventing soreness, and getting fresh blood and oxygen throughout your body and relaxing you before bed.

3) Quit Multitasking

Yeah, tell that to any busy person!  Truth is, as humans we naturally aren't designed to multitask.  So when it comes to unwinding at the end of a long day pick one thing to focus on.  A TV show..watch it, a game on your phone..play it, reading a book..read it. Just don't do all these together because your brain will stay wired as you are slowing down for the night.

How do you unwind on a weeknight after a busy day?

3 Ways to Get & Stay Fit this Fall with a Busy Schedule

Now that the unofficial end of summer has come and gone with Labor Day, we are all transitioning in one way or another back to our routines. From a new school year, work, life change our busy lives and it can be a quite and adjustment.

I had a long, busy past week with being completely out of routine. At work, we closed the gym down for our annual clean up of the facility. Though the days were long, and tiring I still managed to stay consistent with my workouts first thing in the morning and fueling myself with a nutritious Creamy Dutch Chocolate IsaLean shake.

I pulled through and by the time Friday at noon hit, I unplugged and got my downtime in.

Bottom line, we’re all busy, and just because we may have a slight change in our everyday routine doesn’t mean we need to put our health aside. For me, at least getting my daily workout, healthy shake, and sleep in was a non-negotiable and I feel great because I didn’t let it slide.

As we transition into fall, the season of change in only a few short weeks, staying consistent with our health and well-being must take front and center priority. It impacts our relationships (including self), environment, and quality of living.

Here are 3 ways to stay healthy and fit as the fall season approaches.

1) Get Organized

This may sound overwhelming in itself, thinking “where do I find the time”? You do have the time, take small steps. First, think about your fitness and wellness goal, just one for now.  From there begin by eliminating what doesn’t support you in achieving that goal (i.e. junk food in the kitchen, office desk).

For example, at work clean out your desk and office space from clutter, filing important papers and documents. At home go through your kitchen and start by cleaning out a refrigerator drawer, go through a pantry shelf and toss the unhealthy foods.  This allows room to add in those healthier, quality foods to eat.

2) Enjoy the Outdoors

As the weather begins to cool down, and that fresh crisp is in the air it’s a great way to heighten the senses. The crisp air, breeze, transition of the fall foliage, these months are a great time to exercise outdoors, even a brisk walk during your lunch break, when you get home from work, or after dinner. It’s healthy for the senses, immunity, and improves your mood.

3) Mix your Routine Up

Make small changes in your routine to stay inspired. I mentioned working out at a different gym for instance. Possibly working out at a different time then you typically would? Maybe experimenting with a different meal option you normally wouldn’t of eaten before? Let’s face it, it can get pretty boring eating the same thing again and again. A lot of produce is coming into season such as apples, squash, pomegranate, and oh pumpkin spice.

New Friends bring New Energy to your Soul!

One of my greatest highlights of 2019 are the new friendships I’ve made this year, including this one.

Meet my friend Nicole, who I met in February at an event and we instantly hit it off. Both have a love for fitness, wellness, and inspiring others to live their best lives.

She introduced me to a nutrition and wellness company that has enhanced my health, and she has also been a great inspiration to me.

It’s so important to build a strong, supportive network of friendship who cheer you on and hold you accountable in you achieving your dreams and sustaining a healthy lifestyle.

Mint chocolate chip ice cream for breakfast...and it's super healthy!

Well at least my morning shakes taste like mint chocolate chip ice cream! Mmmm...so good, and healthy!

Back into routine after the long holiday weekend and I'm feeling refreshed as the second half of 2019 is underway. This routine also includes my full-time job where I'm at the gym every weekday morning at 4:45am and constantly active.

Though I adapted quickly to this schedule back in April, I was however struggling to stay consistent with packing nutritious breakfasts to keep me fueled that early.

A typical breakfast consisted of hot and cold cereals that were healthy, but they were too much trouble since I needed to constantly be present on the floor overseeing the facility.

Exactly one month ago, I began incorporating some products from Isagenix, a private multi-level marketing company that distributes high quality health and wellness products.

The health and fitness industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and yes there's a lot of misleading information, fads, trends, and quick fixes out there with low quality ingredients, easily found in convenient stores, but Isagenix is NOT one of them. Believe me, I used to be so close minded to these kinds of things.

However, over this past year, the more I opened my mind to this particular company, mainly from listening to the success stories of others, and those I knew, is what inspired me to start.

Currently, I've been incorporating a shake a day, filled with 24 grams of high quality protein, energy-fueling carbs, healthy fats, and essential vitamins and minerals. I add almond milk, shake it up, and go! My go-to flavor right now is the Chocolate Mint, hence why I said mint chocolate chip ice cream for breakfast cause that's what it tastes like.

I consume other Isagenix products as well, including vitamins that support healthy aging, organ, and immunity support (beneficial for my thyroid condition) and the results have been phenomenal. Keeps me full, fueled, and enhances my performance because I'm consuming high quality ingredients.

Now the intention of this newsletter is to 100% not sell you on these products, but to 100% share my story, as someone who stands behind these products and company as a whole...and I'm brand new!

The moral of this message is to inspire you to keep an open mind to something that may benefit you in sustaining your health and fitness goals once and for all.

If you're someone who is constantly active, looking to lose weight, increase your energy, and/or looking to enhance your quality of living no matter what your personal wellness goals, or just interested in learning more about the products in general, and/or my results, please contact me and I'll be happy to give you more details.
