We’re right smack in the middle of the winter and spring fever has been in the air pretty much since the beginning of the season. Though I personally have enjoyed the winter (go ahead call me crazy), the anticipation builds for the warmer, sunnier months ahead has set in and I am sharing 3 easy tips to get through the winter blues and prepare for the spring season.
1. Spring Clean.
Feeling cranky? Overwhelmed? Take a look around. Are you surrounded by too much clutter? Well it’s time to spring clean.
Cortisol, which is a stress hormone releases when your environment is surrounded with clutter, hence causing unhealthy stress and overwhelm. Get organized by eliminating people and material things that no longer serve you. It leaves room to receive new in your life and brings a sense of peace and ease to your mental and emotional well-being.
2. Add a Touch of Color
It's proven that different colors contain special healing properties such as altering our moods and emotions. Add a pop of color to your clothing, office space, home, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables with a variety of color to get essential vitamins and minerals during these gray, colder days.
3. Get Some Good "D"
With limited amounts of time spent outdoors and a reduction of exposure to natural sunlight in the winter, it's important to get enough vitamin D. Every cell in your body needs light to survive and grow. There's a number of foods that contain Vitamin D including egg yolks, mushrooms, fortified milk, fatty fish, and certain supplements.
