For the first time in 7 years my thyroid is stable...
and I owe it to my positive attitude.
After being diagnosed with a hypothyroid condition in 2011 I was put on a number of meds over the years, but my thyroid never showed any improvement. In January of 2017, my dosage was changed (yet again) and this time I broke out in hives! After that I made a clear decision that I wasn't taking anymore pills and tossed them away...against doctor's orders.
Fast forward to May 1st of this year when I visited with my Endocrinologist (who is wonderful by the way...and cute 😉 ) and explained that I felt great, and the only symptoms I currently experience are high blood pressure and weight loss. Both of these are an indicator of a hyperactive thyroid and he proceeded to talk about the necessary steps to take after my tests if this was the case.
That same week I went for my routine lab work, ultrasound and when all was said and done, my doctor called explaining that everything was within normal limits and to keep on doing whatever I was doing.
Rewind back to January of 2017 to when I threw out those pills. From there I began to live my life with more intention, appreciation, optimism and owe a majority of these current results to my positive attitude. I get this may sound "out there" to some, but our thoughts, attitudes and belief system have a tremendous impact on our our health and well being.
This isn't to say that my current results won't change overtime, I do have an enlargement on the right side of my throat (see photos) high blood pressure and a high metabolism all which I monitor, but embrace that change is a healthy part of life.
However, I'm grateful for my present circumstances and counting my blessings every single day.
